West Salem Technician Named National Technician of the Year Finalist

2020 Technician of the Year Finalist
A local technician from Exhaust Plus has been named a finalist in Auto Value’s esteemed national Technician of the Year program.
Michael Shanley, an employee of Exhaust Plus, had to fulfill multiple requirements in order to be eligible for the award, including Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. He was selected as the sole finalist from Automotive Parts Headquarters Inc., a warehouse distributor and store group serving Auto Value parts stores across the Upper Midwest.
Shanley joined 17 other top-notch technicians from around the country in San Antonio this past March for a custom ASE test to determine the 2020 winner. The technician with the highest test score will walk away with $2,500, a trip to Clearwater, Fla., a sparkling trophy, and a prestigious title. Following the exam, the technicians enjoyed three days of Texas-themed activities, camaraderie, and a banquet to crown the champion.
This training program is supported by the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, a program group for Auto Value and Bumper to Bumper, and is also open to technicians in Canada and Mexico. The winning Canadian and Mexican Technicians of the Year were in attendance in San Antonio this past March with the U.S. Technician of the Year finalists.
“The 2020 Technician of the Year finalists have proven themselves to be the best of the best,” said Elizabeth Estes, education liaison for the Alliance’s Sales & Marketing Committee. “This program gives us the opportunity to recognize the commitment each of them has made to training and certification in the automotive industry, and we are delighted to have them together to celebrate their accomplishments.”
