Jennifer DeMars Wins Scholarship Through National Auto Value Program

Forest Lake, Minn. – July 18, 2011 – Jennifer DeMars was one of 32 students nationally to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Auto Value.

DeMars applied for the scholarship through the Forest Lake Auto Value parts store and certified service center.  She will be attending Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College.

Auto Value has awarded scholarships to employees and/or their children to assist in their post-high school education for the past 15 years.  Since the scholarship program began, more than a quarter of a million dollars has been dedicated to helping employees and their families continue their education.

Students seeking a scholarship were required to write a 200-word essay on “What I hope to accomplish through my post high school graduation.”  Applicants must have completed high school to be considered for the $1,000 scholarship, which will be paid directly to the recipient’s school of choice for the fall 2011 semester.

“Continuing education can be expensive and we don’t want anyone to choose attending school or not based on financial resources.  That was the main reason why Auto Value created this scholarship program,” said Terry Beckman, manager of the Forest Lake Auto Value parts store and certified service center.  “We are proud of Jennifer and happy that we could play a part in helping her continue her education.”
